Orthomolecular medicine

Orthomolecular medicine is the scientific basis for the optimal supply of vitamins, minerals, trace elements, amino and essential fatty acids to the body.

It is a treatment concept that, on the basis of the body's own substances, balances or optimises the supply and nutrition of the individual so that the nutrients are present in the body in the right concentration, and thus enabling prevention and treatment of acute and chronic diseases.

This attaches importance not only to the prevention of nutrient deficiency in healthy individuals, but examines the individual and requisite supply of essential nutrients to the body.

Orthomolecular medicine, in addition to the most recent developments, has long been part of classical medicine, for example in treating the following ailments:

-Vitamin A in xerophthalmia
-Vitamin B12 in treating anaemia
-Vitamin D and calcium in osteoporosis
-N-Acetylcysteine (NAC) in respiratory illnesses
-Iodine for the treatment of the thyroid
-Nicotinic acid in hyperlipidaemia
-Fluoride in preventing caries

It aims to prevent chronic illnesses, improve health and maintain vitality and overall performance even into old age.
