Foot reflexology therapy

Foot reflexology therapy, also called reflexology, is a treatment of the feet using the pressure of the thumb or fingers.
It stimulates the self-healing powers of the organism and improves the physical and mental balance.

Even in many ancient cultures it was known that treatment of the feet using a special technique or massage can have an impact on the entire organism.
At the beginning of the 20th century the American doctor William Fitzgerald, developed   the so-called zone therapy, based on the techniques with which the Indians treated the feet of affected people,. The work of Dr. Fitzgerald was picked up and further developed by the physiotherapist Eunice Ingham and by the nurse Hanne Marquardt.

Today, reflexology divides the human body from head to toe into 10 vertical and 3 horizontal body zones. The reflex zones of the body (i.e. bones, muscles, tissues, organs and systems) lie at the feet, of course proportionally reduced in the same longitudinal and transverse zones as in the body.
Here, the reflex zones of the front side of the human body are found at the back of the foot and the reflex zones of the back of the human body can be found at the sole of the foot.

Reflexology can be used to treat the following complaints:

- Problems of the musculoskeletal system, such as diseases of the spine, joints and muscles and associated pain
-Gynaecological ailments: fibroids, cysts, endometriosis, menstrual disorders, menstrual
cramps, PMS (premenstrual syndrome)
-Headaches
-Sleep disturbances
-Discomfort in the digestive tract, such as abdominal syndrome, bloating, constipation, haemorrhoids, liver and gall bladder ailments
-Disorders of the kidney and bladder
-Acute or chronic respiratory diseases such as colds, bronchitis, sinusitis (sinus
Inflammation), otitis media (middle ear infection), asthma
-Allergies, susceptibility to infections and lymphatic load, especially in children
-To accompany pregnancy and during birth

When beginning reflexology therapy, the complete medical history of the patient (anamnesis) should be recorded to align the specific treatment with the complaints of the patient.
The respective zone therapy usually takes between 30 and 60 minutes.
Today, in our often too top-heavy times, the treatment of the feet grounds the individual in an extremely impressive way.
